About Starr
Welcome to Starr Elementary School, home of the Rockets!

Dear Starr Elementary families,
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to Starr Elementary School, the Green Bay Area Public School District’s (GBAPS) newest elementary school on the southwest side of Green Bay. As we open our doors for the very first time, we are honored to serve a diverse community of more than 500 students in Early Childhood through fifth grade.
Starr is a Title I Schoolwide Program, and we are proud to offer several specialized programs that support the unique needs of our learners, including Early Childhood, Collaborative 5K, Autism Focus Programs, and an Intellectual Disability Program. These programs reflect our commitment to ensuring every child receives the academic, social, and emotional support they need to thrive.
As a brand‑new school, we have a rare and meaningful opportunity: to build our culture, systems, and identity together from the ground up. Our team is dedicated to creating a collaborative school environment where every student, staff member, family, and community partner feels welcomed, valued, and connected. We believe strongly that relationships are the foundation of learning, and we will work intentionally to support each child’s growth academically, socially, and emotionally.
Family partnerships are essential to student success, and we look forward to working closely with you throughout the year. Your voice, involvement, and insights help us create the best possible experience for our students. Together, we will build a school community where children feel safe, supported, challenged, and inspired.
Thank you for joining us as we begin this exciting journey. We cannot wait to learn, grow, and shine together at Starr Elementary.

Starr Elementary School History
Named after former Green Bay Packers quarterback Bart Starr and his wife Cherry, Starr Elementary School opened for the 2026-2027 school year on the west side of Green Bay.
Bart Starr was the Green Bay Packers' quarterback who led the team to five NFL championships and the first two Super Bowls. He also served as the Packers head coach from 1975-1983. Bart was praised for his leadership qualities and exemplary character, both as a player and a person. Bart and Cherry are known for their support of youth. They co-founded Rawhide Youth Services, an organization that helps at-risk youth. They also created the Starr Children’s Fund, an endowment to finance childhood cancer research. In addition, Bart and Cherry served as honorary chairpersons of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation Golf Classic for 44 years.
A group of GBAPS staff, parents, students and community members formed a committee to pick the school's name in 2025.
Starr Elementary School was built thanks to community support of the November 2024 Referendum. Starr Elementary was built with school consolidation in mind, and combined student bodies from Keller, Kennedy and MacArthur Elementary Schools.
